Our vision is a marine environment where the top of the South Island is protected from damaging marine pests and diseases
Biosecurity management excludes, eradicates and manages risks from pests and diseases to New Zealand's economy, environment and human health.
Who is in the Partnership?
The Top of the South Marine Biosecurity Partnership includes representation from Tasman District Council, Nelson City Council, Marlborough District Council, Ministry for Primary Industries, Department of Conservation, the aquaculture industry, port companies, tangata whenua and other stakeholders.
All New Zealanders have a role to play and the Partnership is open to any organisation or industry that wants to participate in reducing biosecurity risk in the Top of the South.
Exotic Disease and Pest Hotline
If you come across a suspect marine animal or plant, or a mass death or illness event in marine life, report it as soon as possible to MPI by calling the Exotic Disease and Pest Hotline 0800 80 99 66. It is free to call and open to calls 24/7.
